Albert Arnold Gore Jr. (1948 - ) is an American politician and environmentalist who was vice president of the USA from 1993 to 2001. He was an elected official for 24 years, as a representative, senator, and VP. He lost the presidential election in 2000 to George W. Bush in the closest election ever. He has become best known for advocating for action to meet climate change, a theme with which he has been associated since 1976, through several organisations, including Alliance for Climate Protection, Generation Investment Management, and World Resources Institute. His two films on the challenge of climate change have been widely seen around the world. He has received several awards, including the Nobel Peace Prize. His leadership lies in a persistent pursuit of critical change against much opposition, his positiveness, and political communication skills.
