Juan Luis Guerra
Juan Luis Guerra Seijas (1957 - ) is a Dominican singer, songwriter, composer, and producer. He has sold over 30 million records, and has won many awards including 18 Latin Grammy Awards, two Grammy Awards, and two Latin Billboard Music Awards; and is one of the most internationally recognized Latin artists. His popular style of merengue and Afro-Latin fusion is mixed with bachata, balada, salsa, rock and roll, and gospel. In 2010, he organized a concert to raise money for those who were affected by the Haiti earthquake. After this successful event, a children's hospital was later built in Haiti. He has become a voice for the Dominican Republic and for Latinamerica in his inspirational exuberance, creativity and wide appeal. He is a symbol of a widely-shared identity.
